Stuck Building Zone for Settlement in Roleplay Mode

Issue #10685 resolved

I’m playing on version 2.0.206.53, which is the more stable version, as far as I understand.

My character found the location for a settlement called “The Naruu-Shwu-Kas Ranch” using the Trash Divining skill. I don’t know if that’s a generated village/fort because this is my first time playing long enough to find bugs. Hopefully the main story doesn’t require me to go there eventually.

I’m in the turn 49990 (I spent a lot of time destroying walls). The location was close-by to where I was so I decided to visit, however:

Everytime I try to go in the specific map of the Ranch (NE within its parasang), the game shows the “Building zone…” prompt, this happens either when choosing it in the Overworld Map when the “Select a destination” pop-up appears or by dropping in the central location of the parasang (Or the ones around it) and going there by any of the adjacent maps (I attached a couple screenshots of these attempts).

After this. the game basically frozes in the sense that it doesn’t seem to receive any* of my keyboard input. Despite this, I can see the animation on the loading prompt moving and the little particles of the Salt Dessert working normally (The dune tile animation does stops tho, I’m talking about the little transparent ones). The ambient sound + music keeps playing perfectly fine. Interestingly enough, switching between Ability Pages still works. Moving the cursor still works, as the “Window Lock Toggle”, “Minimap Toggle” and “Nearby Items List Toggle” buttons, as well as displacing the Log window in the Overlay UI. The / button works too (For hiding the Log window). Pressing ESC to get the “Pause” menu doesn’t do anything tho, and the only way to get out of that situation is by pressing Alt+F4/killing the program.

I’ve tried multiple times and waited a considerable amount of time for it to “finish” building it, but it hasn’t.

I’m attaching the .sav files that were in the Save folder for this character in a .zip. There were three .sav, so I just put them all three (My character has Precognition and I imagine the Checkpoint.sav is because of Roleplay mode).

I have two mods installed: “The Qud Survival Guide: a (mostly) lore-friendly tutorial mod for Caves of Qud”, and the “Please Allow Me to Introduce Myself” which basically just adds the function to ask creatures their name and remember them.

Thoughts:

  1. I think maybe it has something to do with the fact that I’m playing in Roleplay mode (And it’s trying to make a checkpoint in a village that’s probably dangerous or something) but that’s a lot of speculation really.
  2. I checked the CPU usage with the Task Manager while the game is doing the endless loading (It is doing it as I write this down) but if the game is the active window, it doesn’t go beyond 29% usage, although it does says the Power Usage is “Very High” even on the background. However, I imagine if this was an endless-loop situation the CPU usage would rapidly increase and crash the game or the computer so I’m also not sure about that.

I see there’s a couple conventions called [#bugs] and [#beta-bugs] but I’m not sure which one applies to this one, since it’s not 1.0, but I’m not participating in any of the “Betas” from the Betas available in Steam. Let me know which one it should be so I can edit the title.
