It's not all gigantic creatures, there's no inherent mechanic that prevents you from moving them, only krakens.

What's happening here is that when you try to move into the space occupied by a neutral or friendly kraken, it tries to swap positions with you, but krakens are incapable of moving in a single action. Instead, it stays in the same place and targets the square you're on specifically because it's trying to swap positions with you, and then you stay in the same spot with a generic "The kraken cannot be budged" message. Now, if you try to swap with it again, it is already targeting that square, and so it can swap with you now, except you're there, and you get squished.
