<bishplsok> Half tinkering bit-economy note, half pointing out an oddity: combustion cells using 2-bits just like solar cells feels like it may not be intended, given they're two loot tiers above solar cells and fill a clear gap before thermoelectric cells, which use 4 bits.

3 bits are also quite rare, relatively speaking, with no particularly common sources of them (and they almost completely disappear in higher-tier areas)

Moving combustion cells to use 3-bits (before potential random downshift) would both better balance the overall bit economy (buying recoilers en masse as the easiest way to find 3-bits right now feels pretty silly), and make the energy cell tier progression more clear.

Given that combustion cells are pretty weak maybe the other way around in upping solar cells bit/tier makes more sense

Issachari Rifles might be a another good candidate for bumping to 3 bit? Seems like it could make sense with their early power level, the tiers of the other early ranged weapons, and materially (needing pure alloys).

Even then, I think 3 bits might still be scarcer than 4 bits.

Good point; Musket and Issachar Rifle both using a 2-bit has always struck me as very odd, and Pump Shotguns use 3-bits while being a worse/presumably lower-tech weapon than Issachar Rifles.

(I assume it’s intentional that no guns use a 1-bit; pistols have a clear 2-3-4+ progression from chrome revolvers to semi-autos to chain pistol/laser pistol; the equivalent rifle progression is Musket to Issachar Rifle to Carbine/Laser Rifle, and by that logic, Issachars should probably use a 3-bit)
