OP’s report doesn’t seem like a bug, the XP gain and level up appear over the animation too. I’m against pausing the game until it finishes; popups appearing over an animation you already saw is fine, and there aren’t any bugs if someone wants to keep playing during the animation.
it seems to do a slow rolling/popping-in, but then suddenly pops in a second time near the end of that animation
Can confirm this happens in stable as well, both for entering and exiting a dream. Seems like the scaling is getting set/reset incorrectly.

actually the waking animation seems a bit janky in general, it seems to do a slow rolling/popping-in, but then suddenly pops in a second time near the end of that animation. seems like control of the player is also possibly being returned too early (which sorta does explain why the popup appears when it does)
