Game completely freezes when attempting to install cybernetics

Game will completely seize up and I cannot exit out of the becoming nook menu after implanting myself with any cybernetic that gives me an ability, might be revolved around cybernetics and abilities, I tried to upgrade my hands with Giant Hands but had a par of leyline puppeteers on, it took off the puppeteers for a split second for me to gain Giant Hands but it froze the game. Only way I circumvented the game freezing was removing my puppeteers before getting Giant Hands. I later tried to upgrade with a cathedra but every time I upgrade to it the game completely freezes.
