Grit Gate not defending itself against esper hunter

When I arrived at Grit Gate an esper hunter spawned in the locked room where the stairs down to the basement on the NE side are. I broke in to the main floor before the doors were unlocked. After attacking me through the walls with cryokinesis once, the hunter proceeded to spam it at all Barathrumites in range killing a bunch of chromelings and waydroids in that closet and attacking some bears. It just killed everything in range and no Barathrumite ever entered the room to return fire.
