If, Then, Else quest giver able to be stunned, unable to recover from stunned

The quest giver for If, Then, Else in the Moon Stairs is able to be stunned (I was attacked by an Esper hunting squad, and I guess it got stunned in the fight). However, he doesn’t appear to have stats, which means he cannot actually recover from being stunned, making him permanently unable to engage in conversation. I waited for a few hundred turns, and he remained stunned. I attempted to Dominate him, just in case, and was unable to do so. I was forced to Wish for a replacement in order to progress the quest.
