AFAIK this is intended. Stingers aren’t meant to be primary weapons, but you are still allowed to use it as a primary weapon anyway. The confuse and paralyze stingers aren’t meant for damage, but a late game poison stinger with 2-3 Rapid Advancements might make a decent primary weapon - depending on how common poison immunity is, of course.

They don’t seem to be dealing their damage (1d6 at level 1). They should.
