Klanq killed by sludges

Upon recoiling back to klanq's house, (and then leaving, eating more flesh so I could see it, and recoiling back again) I found Klanq was outside its house being murdered by a horde of disludges and trisludges. Maybe not technically a bug - but it really seems like unintended behavior how easy it is for it to die and break the quest. The zone having both a river of salty water and some river of primordial soup in my playthrough (I assume both are common) led to an infinite horde of immediate disludges - never thought the quest npc that lives in the rainbow wood would be so bad at surviving there.
