If I start the quest "A Canticle for Barathrum" and then recoil into Grit Gate without actually having entered the ground level of Grit Gate, I can proceed with the main questline (in my case, up through Golgotha), and that original quest "A Canticle for Barathrum" isn't actually completed until I specifically go to the ground level of Grit Gate.
