enemies seem to occasionally be getting unlimited attacks against frozen or tripped player

One time my character was tripped by a sludge eel and the message log scrolled through a bunch of attacks and then I died. The death log only listed twenty attacks but scaled to my HP it seems like there were between 100 and 200 attacks after my last move.

Just now my character got frozen and took about 60 damage worth of attacks from a Naphthali villager; again, the message log just scrolled through a ton of attacks until I died.

Are these just really unlucky rolls somehow or is something else going on?

Well, it happened again so this time I decided to grab a screenshot and upload the game log, in case any of that helps. I’m running AntiMicro to use an Elite Series 2 controller to play, and it seems like every time it’s happened it’s been when I become incapacitated next to an enemy.
