Evil Twin doesn't feel balanced

Evil Twin is a lot of fun from a flavor/story perspective, but it makes the game very difficult. They seem to spawn very frequently. In my latest run I've come across ~5 before I reached level 10. This, coupled with the fact that they have the same stats, equipment, and abilities as you, means that they're a very tough fight that happens pretty frequently. I find myself resorting to some very cheesy tactics (mainly exploiting the AI quirks) to get past them.

My initial thought was that it should be worth more negative MP, maybe -4 or -5 instead of -3, but then I realized that any additional points your character gets, they also get! So adjusting the MP wouldn't really help.

My other thought is to decrease the frequency, or add some kind of minimum cooldown between appearances. I don't really like this idea either, since (to me) part of the flavor of Evil Twin is that all your "twins" from the infinite parallel dimensions are all trying to kill you (maybe they want to replace you? maybe it's a highlander thing where there can only be one?) so it seems more fun that there are a lot of them.

Maybe they shouldn't be a perfect clone of you? Maybe it should be a kind of random variance, where sometimes they're mostly the same with only slightly different equipment, and sometimes they're completely different in mutations or even a different calling?

Idk, I'm not sure what the answer should be. Just wanted to throw it out there.
