<VirtuallyCamilla> I'm not sure if this has been reported, but it doesn't seem to have been mentioned recently. When starting a new game, once the choose a name screen pops up, pressing escape to cancel (or clicking cancel with the mouse) just starts the game in the selected area, instead of going back a step in character creation.
