having deactivated items (displacer bracelet, ulnar stimulators) in your inventory freezes your character (beta and non-beta)

Final Edit:

I did a little science (threw the items in a box in old version, came back to new version, was ok, then took out items in batches and narrowed from there).

Basically your character cannot move if (these, and probably other) items are deactivated in your inventory.

This occurs in beta and non-beta and does not actually have anything to do with save transition as I previously assumed.

If due to save transition no big deal, and I think that may be the case because I tried precog save and that was in a different zone and it failed. Not certain though – it doesn’t affect all previous saves, because I have some that do still work (different characters though)

edit notes:

  • confirmed that issue is resolved by reverting to previous version.
  • found another old save that was broken in 202.67 (also works after reversion to .66) and have some more detail on the issue:

    • Game is not actually ‘freezing’: Main character is simply unable to act and may no longer exist. Other entities move around and do interesting things without main character (possibly having their own great adventures).
  • going back to .67 shortly try something and if that doesn’t pan out see if I can replicate on a new game..

edit 2 notes:: It was something in my inventory. I determined this (and several other things to be named later) by the expedient of breaking all my things while in 202.66 and returning to 202.67. I’m not sure I have the willpower to swap back and forth item by item to figure out which is the breaker, but I’m hoping this will be sufficient information to help those who can run the game with a debugger.
