I suggest that chimeric fins should give a bonus to swimming, and maybe reputation with fishes.

More generally it would be nice if chimeric limbs were a little more than just clothes-horses to hang equipment on. (Hyphas could give rep with fungi, bines with plants etc. Maybe extra feet could give a small movement bonus.)
