it looks like it might be the result of incomplete color codes being parsed weirdly (in two different ways on different screens), now that I've seen how color codes work. it does seem useful for color codes to work in custom journal entries, although it would also be useful if "&" on its own didn't break rendering (since it can feasibly come up; I think I found the issue by entering something like "fullerite gear & scary templars").

relatedly, it looks like auto-appending a reset color code ("&y", I think) at the end of a custom journal entry would be a useful safety precaution, because when I was testing it looks like the colors tend to bleed into (some) following text, in a couple places.
