Water Rituals and Beguiling

Water Ritualing a beguiled character is...weird. For these reasons.

If the water ritual was "valid" and "to be honored" despite the mind control, then I feel a creature shouldn't try kill you after beguiling wears off. Doing such a thing is the worst thing anybody in the Qud, after all. And you can't kill them without suffering that penalty.

But if the water ritual is "invalid" and "not to be honored" because of said mind control, then it shouldn't affect your faction rep.

With how important the water ritual is, it seems weird that it's "valid" to do it to someone mind controlled, because it affects faction rep and you killing them is taboo, but at the same time, it seems "invalid" since the creature is perfectly willing to commit the most horrible sin anything in Qud can commit right after doing it. So I figure it should either be “fully valid” in that it affects faction rep and the creature won’t kill you, as you’re water bonded, or it’s “fully invalid” since they only did it under duress/mind control. Or maybe even be a negative rep to everyone for “defiling” such an important ritual. If it’s just “game logic” and should stay this way, I get it. Just felt like it was a weird inconsistancy is all.
