Notes and a bug regarding the new "use selected ability" feature

Issue #7469 resolved
Meaning created an issue

The “use selected ability” feature is interesting, albeit kind of distracting. While not a bug, it would be very helpful QoL-wise if you had the option to have none of your abilities highlighted, instead of forcing one to be. It is a little distracting for myself and my partner, both of which have ADHD. Perhaps if “use selected ability” is unbound, the highlight could be disabled.

More relevant to this bug report, there are two bugs with the feature as it stands.

If you update the keybind for “use selected ability,” it will not visually update (including when a turn passes) until the selected ability is shifted.

To reproduce:

  1. Bind “use selected ability.”
  2. Exit the keybind menu.
  3. Move to previous or next ability, upon which it will update.

The second bug is slightly more impactive. When using multiple keys (e.g. shift+o, ctrl+p), “use selected ability” will not work. This is likely in some way related to the other issues with the input manager’s lack of support for multiple keys, although this problem persists whether the beta input manager is enabled or disabled.

To reproduce:

  1. Bind multiple keys to “use selected ability.”
  2. Attempt to use your selected ability.

The ability will not activate, even if it would if bound to multiple keys through the ability menu.
