saves files always corrupt or need to be played in a version that doesn't exist.

After playing a save for about 15 hours it seems that they always corrupt or refuse to open due to being from format 2.0167.0 or prior. no update has occurred to even make this happen to the save i played most recently. if i try to play in said format manually, steam doesn't even show that it exist. i really enjoy this game however not being able to consistently play the game wit ha save i spend hours on is frustrating me to not want to pick it up anymore. would love to try to see what the issue is that is causing these corruptions/ reformatted save files.
