If an artifact is viewable via tech scanning you can set it to Treat as scrap. If you remove the tech scanning it will be a weird artifact, and will still be auto-disassembled if that setting is on. It makes a certain amount of sense that unidentified artifacts can’t or shouldn’t be disassembled. This also makes it hard to examine them obviously.
