When can I become a qudzu symbiote?

All my life I have had but one dream, one burning desire:

To become one with the qudzu.

I've met others who have achieved this, so I know it must be possible. But they won't explain how they did it.

I've laid down in the qudzu for hours as all my items turned to rust and dust around me. But it never took me.

The people who wanted to be fungal symbiotes are happy. The people who wanted to become giant slugs are happy. Why must I be unhappy? For how much longer will my final apotheosis be denied me??
