How do you feel about adding a banner that says something like: “If you continue to use this website you accept that we may place essential cookies on your computer. These are necessary for the website to function.”
I don’t know if that is legal, but requiring people to give permission for essential cookies keeps breaking the website.

What about if we “assume” that if people sign-in, they also accept cookies? It already says people agree to that when they sign-in.
