Power button actions not always displayed on front panel

Issue #126 resolved
IanSav created an issue

If a power button action (long or short press) generates the Power / Restart menu (currently labelled "Main menu"! in the 20140226 firmware) the front panel display is updated to reflect the currently highlighted option. If the power button action (long or short press) triggers a direct action then the front panel is NOT updated to indicate what action is occurring.

In my case I have the short press programmed to bring up the menu and the long press programmed to Shutdown. When I long press the power button the TV displays that a shut down is in progress but the front panel continues to display the previously current activity until the unit finally shuts down and the display is turned off.

If the TV screen is off then while the shut down is in progress the user is lead to believe that nothing is happening. The user may be tempted to turn the TV on to see what is going on only to find that by the time the TV "warms up" the T3 has finally shut down. Having the front panel immediately update with the current power or restart activity would address this problem.

To separate the front panel display of the menu options and the actions they are performing the front panel messages should be slightly different. For example,if the Power / Restart menu is displayed then you should see the options like "Shutdown" on the front panel. If the user pressed OK to accept the "Standby" option then the front panel message should be changed to something like "Going to Standby...", for "Shutdown" something like "Shutting down...", for "Reboot" something like "Rebooting..." and "Restart GUI" something like "Restarting GUI...". The need for these different messages is important if the TV screen is off when these functions are being used.

Reproduction steps

Program the power button via "MENU > Setup > System > Buttons settings > Action on long power button press" to "Immediate shutdown".

While watching live TV long press the POWER button. The current TV channel name will remain on the front panel display until the power to the display is removed.

Also related the front panel up and down buttons do not change the menu options, although the front panel OK button will select the current action (usually standby in the configuration describe). Would be nice to be able to manipulate the power/reboot options without the remote or the TV screen.

At Prl's suggestion I have added the extra request for a different front panel message for each menu option to differentiate the menu option and its action.

    I am closing Prl's Issue 25 .

The core of this report has been addressed but there is a new related issue. The shutdown message is "Sshutting down". There is a spelling mistake in the new text.

I don't want to close this item with a Rejected solution as that is unfair. Hopefully the mistake can be corrected for the next build and we can close this issue cleanly.

Fixed (along with a few other minor grammar / spelling issues) and pushed. Should be fixed in next firmware.
