Map 4 independent custom skips to ARROW buttons

Issue #183 resolved
Former user created an issue

Map 4 custom skip buttons to the 4 arrow keys.

in TV mode the use of keys 1,4,7 & 3,6,9 are problematic as they enter channel numbers unless you have already used pause FF or RW

This is very annoying to users as they keep changing channels when they want to move through buffer

These mappings need to be more than just mappings to the numeric keys.

They back skips need to swap to time shift mode first then skip

Remember that on the classic Beyonwiz models there are two independent sets of skip timings. One set of skips is for PVR mode the other is for media playback mode. :) I have both modes set up asynchronously. The back skips are slightly smaller than the forward skips. For example, in the PVR context I prefer LEFT = -10 secs, RIGHT = +15 secs, UP = +180 secs, and DOWN = -120 secs. With this combination I can get many skip options within only a few button presses. (E.g. to skip 60 secs forward I press UP then DOWN. ;))

I think I have a fix that is closer to the way that DP-series work. I suspect that such a change will go a long way towards addressing the usability problem that is at the core of this issue.

At this stage, I have mapped LEFT and RIGHT keys as independent skip values that also initiate timeshift. This will need some testing. Mapping the UP / DOWN keys may be a little more complicated.

Although this bug explicitly asks for all four arrow keys to be assigned the same functionality as the DP-series, I am wondering whether this is actually required.

Have a go at using just the left/right keys (in combination with numeric keys, once timeshift mode has been entered) for a while. You can then decide if this bug can be closed or needs more work.
