Actual Infobar timeout can be longer than its timeout setting

Issue #372 new
prl created an issue

When the infobar is displayed after a channel change (CH+/-, channel selection screen or EPG), the infobar can stay displayed longer than the timeout specified in MENU>Setup>System>OSD settings>1st infobar timeout.

A user report described it as being 3-4 seconds longer than the setting when the setting was 3 seconds or more. and correct timeout time when the timeout was less than 3 sec.

My own timings (watch sweep second hand) showed it being displayed ~2 seconds more than specified for 3, 5 and 10 second settings. I wasn't able to get reliable results for less than 3 sec.

I put in simple instrumentation of the infobar timeout timer, and it showed that the problem was being caused by events causing the infobar timeout timer to be reset and restarted several times after a channel change. These resets/restarts extend the time that the infobar is displayed noticeably.

There are similar resets/restarts when the infobar is displayed after using timeshift skips, but they don't appear to extend the time that the infobar is displayed noticeably.

Displaying the infobar using OK does not seem to have this problem with multiple timer resets/restarts.

Reproduction steps

Set MENU>Setup>System>OSD settings>1st infobar timeout to a convenient length, preferably 3 sec or more.

Use a watch with a sweep second hand or a stopwatch to time the actual infobar display time after a channel change, and compare the actual time with the setting.

Perform similar tests for infobar display after a timeshift skip or after OK.
