U4 HDMI IN doesn't supply supported resolutions in its EDID data

Issue #617 resolved
prl created an issue

The HDMI IN port on the U4 doesn't supply "supported resolutions" data in the EDID data it sends to connected HDMI output devices.

This is the apparent cause of a problem reported on the forum where a HDMI camera is connected to HDMI IN, but it connects at 576p when it is capable of 1080p output.

Attached files are screen photos of the EDID data from the U4 HDMI IN port as decoded by a Beyonwiz DP-H1. The first page shows the decoded information, the following pages show the raw EDID data blocks. The "Supported Video Modes from EDID" list is empty.

Replication steps

Connect a HDMI output device that is capable of displaying the EDID data supplied by its connected display.

The steps below are for a DP series PVR.

Connect the HDMI OUT of a DP series PVR to HDMI IN of the U4, and switch the U4 to display HDMI IN (e.g. press WIZTV/HDMI-IN from live TV).

Use the DP remote to display EDID data of its display: SETUP>Config>A/V Input, then RED EDID Detail. The "Supported video modes from EDID" list is empty.

It should show a list of acceptable input resolutions and a sensible choice for its preferred resolution (perhaps 720p, its actual recording resolution).

Could you please attach a copy of the EDID reported? I don't have any DP-series boxes available to test with.

Screen photos of the EDID data displayed by a DP-H1 attached. Apologies for the quality - U4 Open Webif screenshots don't work on HDMI in (only show the UI overlay), otherwise black).
