[NetworkBrowser] Problems with username/password requests

Issue #747 new
prl created an issue

When the user clicks on an entry in the NetworkBrowser screen, a username/password is requested as host credentials and as default share credentials for shares on the host.

The credentials are only actually used for the host (for smbclient) if the host offers CIFS shares, and are only used as default share credentials for CIFS shares.

Credentials are also not required when an expanded host is clicked on: the only action in that case is to unexpand the host.

Replication

Find the IP address of a server that exports NFS shares. Remove the file /etc/enigma2/nfs_server_ip_address.cache if it exists.

In MENU>Setup>Network>Network browser, click on a server that exports NFS shares to expand its entry. Even if the server only exports NFS shares (and not CIFS) shares, a username/password will be requested. Answer “no” in the popup, and then navigate to an NFS share and click on it: a username/password will be requested even though the setup for the share requires no password.

Navigate back to the server, and click on it to unexpand it. A username/password will be requested, even though the entry is simply being unexpanded.
