MediaPlayer not accessible in 20140128 FW on pre-production HW

Issue #78 resolved

On the remote peteru and I have for the pre-production T3, the Media Player button now goes to the same screen as MENU>Videos>Recordings. In that screen, it is sort-of possible to play and stop recordings (using PLAY and STOP buttons, though this isn't indicated on the screen anywhere), but they play "under" the Recordings (Select a movie) screen. I can't find any way to get the Recording screen to go away, but keep playing the recording. The PAUSE button doesn't work on the playback "behind" the recordings menu screen.

I can't find any way to get to the old Media Player screen of earlier firmware.

We now seem to have gone from a PVR that had an interface for playing recordings that was dreadful to use, but could in fact play recordings properly, to one that can't really play recordings properly at all.

Wiz HQ posted (from Beyonwiz Korea) that for the XpeedLX RCU - "Key Media - mapped to SHOW Recordings instead of MediaPlayer".

If this the remote that's shown in the help page image in peteru's post about UI problems, then as far as I can see, that remote doesn't have a "Media" button. So I'm not sure what the change is supposed to have done on the production firmware.

Reproduction steps

Press Media Player button on the remote for the pre-production model.

Is this is still an issue with current T3 samples and firmware?

No, there is now a working player (in firmware 20140203 and later). MEDIA, then select and PLAY now plays recordings and media. However, the playlist capability seems to have gone, even though MENU>Setup>Media>Media Player has configuration settings for playlists.

I'll mark this as resolved and start discussions about playlists in the forum, and raise a Feature Request reflecting the discussion.

From firmware 20140203 there is now a working media player available, though it does not have playlist capabilities.
