Front panel continuous scrolling stops after a large delay

Issue #97 wontfix
Peter Urbanec created an issue

Setting "MENU > Setup > Display Settings > Repeat Display Message" to continuous scrolling will not result in continuous scrolling. Instead, the scrolling stops after a large number of repeats.

Reproduction steps

  • Set "MENU > Setup > Display Settings > Repeat Display Message > Continues"
  • Wait 30+ minutes
  • The display stops scrolling

The time taken for the scrolling to stop depends on the scrolling speed of the display. A faster scroll speed will result on a quicker end to the message scrolling.

The hardware development team has no plans to fix the firmware. The valid range for number of scroll repeats is 0-255.

The UI should probably be updated to more accurately reflect the real behaviour, but that would be a different bug.
