Time zone

Issue #13 new
Former user created an issue

Hi Bhushan, I reviewed your plug-in with 4/4 and I have a question for you.

WIth update 1.5 you introduced an hour by hour countdown instead of the usual "Due in 1 day". We can't understand what's the time zone of reference: we tried to modify the Jira system time zone and the Azure virtual machine time zone, but the result was the same.

We work in Italy and it's fundamental to have deadlines in tune with our time zone. Apparently, the "Due date" field is in tune with U.S.A. time zone. Can you help?

Thank you for your work.

    Hi there,

Thanks for the review. I would like to take your input before I go ahead and resolve this issue.

The issue Due Date field in JIRA, does not associate time. It is simply a date. My question is, would you like this to be translated to the logged in user's timezone, or the system timezone set in JIRA General Settings? Also, when displaying the Due In custom field provided by the Due Date Indicator add-on, should the difference be as per the user's timezone preference?

    Thanks Bhushan

For our work it's good if the Due Date field is associated to the system timezone set in JIRA General Settings. No need to be tuned with the user's timezone preference. The hour by hour countdown it's not needed. We would like this: - "due in 1 day" if now it's 8 a.m. (or even 11 p.m.) and the deadline it's tomorrow; - "due today" if the deadline it's today; - "due since 1 day" if now it's 8 a.m. (or even 11 p.m.) and the deadline was yesterday.

    Thank you for your work.
