resolve crossreferences
Reported by keinstein: On http://bibsonomy.blogspot.com/2010/09/feature-of-week-automatic-crossref.html a feature named „Automatic crossref linking is announced".
I'd like to have that feature to be extended in a way that bibsonomy picks the missing information (e.g. booktitle) from the referenced entry.
The workflow would be: 1. retrieve the entry 2. if the crossref field is empty go to 7 3. retrieve the referenced entry from the database of the owner of the entry in 1. 4. if not found go to 7 5. merge in all provided fields which are still empy in the original entry 6. if the crossref field of the referenced entry contains a value, continue with 3. 7. end
At the moment I don't know if BibTeX can follow chaind crossref links. But it could be useful to link an article to an issue of a journal, which links to some general entry containing title and ISSN. I'd suggest that 5 levels of cross references are much more than a usual user needs.

At least I expected to be able to enter them in the form and save them for later usage on my personal computer.

As far as I know BibTeX only supports one level of crossref resolution. When BibTeX files are imported into BibSonomy containing crossrefs and the referenced entries, the crossreferences are already resolved.
Besides that - at which step would you like to have the above described resolution?
