ORCID offers a public webservice for

• searching for researcher ids by name and (parts of) a publication title such as this: curl -H 'Accept: application/orcid+xml' 'http://pub.orcid.org/search/orcid-bio/?q=given-names:Robert+family-name:Jäschke+work-titles:scientific+tagging&rows=3'
• querying profile information by an orcid: curl -H "Accept: application/orcid+xml" 'http://pub.orcid.org/v1.1/0000-0003-3271-9653/orcid-profile' -L -i
• authenticating via an orcid account

the first could be partially helpful for author disambiguation. The second could provide infromation for the author page, once authors are represented in bibsonomy as separate entities.

And we could allow users to connect their account to their ORCID, preferrably during registration, and thereby also import their existing publications from ORCID (and tag them with "myown").

An importer exists. I am in contact with various people to get access to the ORCID API.
