According to http://openid.net/connect/ OpenID Connect is based on OAuth2. The OAuth extension for spring security (http://projects.spring.io/spring-security-oauth/) supports OpenID Connect.

I know but I guess we still need to change our implementation?

Very likely, we can't just change the implementation but we need to implement this in parallel such that other providers that do not switch will still work.
