Adding users to group causes inability to log-in

Adding a user A to a group B causes A to loose their ability to log-in. Even if A was logged in, they can no longer use the system

Occurred on BibLicious with A=Wurstgruppe and B=seboettg.

Maybe this will resolve with the new group concept.
