We could not verify your identity using your ID provider.

When trying to sign in with my own OpenID service SimpleID hostet at id.mcnesium.com the server returns

We could not verify your identity using your ID provider.

It works fine with the very few remaining sites supporting OpenID logins as i.E. OpenStreetMap and Stackoverflow et al.
