Cannot add friends on mobile devices

The documentation states that the user's profile has a button "add as friend" in the right blue column of the user's profile. This is not the case when I open the website using Firefox or Chrome on my Android 6 smartphone. The same happens when I set the browser settings to display the Desktop page. Consequently I cannot add a friend on mobile devices.

you cannot find the friends button, because the sidebar is hidden on small devices.

We should fix this!
