Using Euclid on incompatible version of SketchUp gives cryptic error message

Attempting to use Euclid with SketchUp 8 fails with the following error:
Error Loading File C:/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/euclid/startup.rb
uninitialized constant GemError Loading File euclid.rb
uninitialized constant Gem
Euclid is currently compatible with SU 2016 or later (and maybe SU 2015).
It would be better to have the startup script detect the version of SketchUp and give a clear error message to the user about compatibility.
