Cannot extract serums from Synthesizer and Purifier via automated means

I just updated to 1.7.1 and was testing the newly fixed/improved gate triggers, but it seems that I can't actually get anything to pull the serum out of the machines anymore. They pipe in fine, but I was unable to get anything to pull the serum back out. The side of the machine doesn't appear to matter. I tried, and failed, to pull it out with BC's Emerald and Wooden pipes. I also tried to use an Extraction pipe from Additional Buildcraft Objects to no avail. I also attempted to use AE, and Import Buses (both precision and basic) did nothing.

Strangely, I was able to see it via a Storage Bus

I'm using Forestry 2.2.8.4, and Buildcraft 3.7.2.

I am having a similar enough issue with the indexer to assume they might be related, BC pipes work for filling and extracting from it, and the AE export bus works but not the storage or import bus, item tesseracts don't work directly connected and the extra utilities transfer nodes no longer work.
I am also using Forestry 2.2.8.4 and BC 3.7.2.
