Error when translating paragraph with autonumbered footnote

masklinn avatarmasklinn created an issue

Even if the footnote is (as fast as I can see) correctly copied from the source to the translation, a footnote of the style [#footnote]_ will generate the following message (apparently from deep into docutils):

ERROR: Too many autonumbered footnote references: only 0 corresponding footnotes available.

The result will be a footnote which "works" (it links correctly) but is not numbered in the body e.g.

some text [3]

will instead appear as

some text []

Attaching a test case project with a fake-latvian translation, compile with -Dlanguage=lv footnotes html

to see the issue.

I can reproduce it with both tip and pypi's 1.2b1
