SmartyPants converts :command:`command --arguments` to –arguments (em-dash)
SmartyPants converts :command:
command --arguments to –arguments (with an em-dash). This means that if you copy-paste the command out of the docs, it doesn't work.
SmartyPants is either on or off in the config, so there's no easy way to disable this specific behaviour. As I don't know the code, I don't know which way would be easiest to fix it. You could:
- Make SmartyPants never make that substitution
- Disable SmartyPants inside :command: and perhaps other blocks
- Provide a specific conf.py switch for this behaviour
