Cannot download Blaze

Issue #394 wontfix
Nils Deppe created an issue

Hi Klaus,

This is more of an FYI because I don’t really know what can be done about it. It seems Bitbucket (sometimes?) uses Amazon’s servers. However, Amazon seems to either block VPNs or IPs from some countries, making it so that Blaze cannot be downloaded. I don’t really know what to do about this other than complain to BitBucket themselves (switching to e.g. GitHub seems like not super easy at this stage for Blaze and might come with all sorts of other problems).

Cheers,

Nils

    Hi Nils!

Thanks for pointing this out, I wasn’t aware of the issue. I assume that the US is not affected. Could you please give me some idea which country is affected that made you aware of the issue?

    Best regards,

    Klaus!

    Hi Nils!

Thanks again for pointing this out this issue. Since we cannot change the business model of Atlassian easily (they will have a good reason to use the Amazon servers) and since indeed it would not be easy to move the Blaze repo elsewhere, we currently cannot act on it. However, we'll most certainly keep this limitation in mind.

    Best regards,

    Klaus!

    Hi Klaus,

I don’t remember what country the VPN’s IP address was in at the time, sorry. If I notice the issue again I’ll try to remember to let you know.

Sounds good! I just wanted to make sure you were aware 🙂

    Best wishes and happy holidays,

    Nils
