An rare explosion of reactors from the sum of Energy

Hello,

I have a proposition to do for this game I play for a while already. It is related to the consequence of the Energy ressource. I try to explain things in sequence.

  1. When the Energy comsumption is higher than the Energy production, it would have a risk to have a failure.

  2. I think the most appropriate failure concerne Reactors because they are an uranium-based technology and uranium is not stable. So, an explosion can occur.

  3. To determinate when an explosion occur, I propose, as the Alicorn creation, to have a potential of explosion every tick :

  • This potential would be very low, about once by real month (not game month)
  • Active only when the sum of Enerny is negative.
  • The sum of the energy would higher the chance of the explosion. For example, with -100Wt, the chance of the explosion is multiplied by 2, with -200Wt, it's multiplied by 3, etc..as if the sum of energy was a percentage.
  1. The consequencies of an explosion would be :
  • The death of the half or the third of kittens.
  • The reduction of maxKittens for this game by two (the reset retablishing the maxKittens but Paragon can't be gain).
  • The loss of all reactors.
  • The loss of all or a part of uranium.
  • The deactivation of all building using energy.

Have a nice day

Random automatic negative penalties don't make for good gameplay in idle/incremental type games in my opinion. Especially if the consequences are as bad as actually losing reactors or kittens.

There was similar mechanic with space missions. It never really worked, most of the players just savescumed.
