The morning, afternoon and evening words in the Calendar are always displayed in the main language.

Can be tested here: English and Italian

Tested and all works OK. Take into account that Italian translation is not available for Appointments by default. You need to translate these strings yourself.

This doesn't work again with 4.13.1 I tested with German translation and also added the translation with String Translation. It always shows in English. Reported here.

Still cannot reproduce. Tried demo on your site, but was broken. It takes default translations into account. P.S. Italian is now included.
