Enable Tab and Shift-Tab
From the search textbox, shift-tab should activate the database dropdown. Another shift-tab should activate the server dropdown. Today, I have to lift my hand from the keyboard and grab the mouse.
I suggest that tab order is like this: servers, databases, search, refresh, servers, etc.
From the search box, down arrow or enter should move focus to the results, if any.
This type of enhancement is useful to developers who tend to be more keyboard aware than most users.

You don't need to start working with your mouse, actually. Please try keyboard arrow keys. When you are in the text search field, "up" will get to to the server combo box. Then you can use "right"/"left" to switch between server and database combos. "Down" should get you back to the search field.
I agree that this behavior is rather not what you might have used in most applications, but it was implemented that way on purpose, so you can operate without a mouse at all and only using your keyboard (arrow keys for moving around controls). Though, maybe supporting "tab" key would be worthy as well, I happen to agree here with you.
