FreeEdit is a text editor oriented toward programmers to aid programming activities with light resources. You may even call it as an IDE instead, due to its features:
- Configurable syntax highlighter (available for some popular and widely used languages
  by default)
- Configurable and groupable command for each file extension, including compiler and
  debugger interface
- Configurable keyboard shortcuts
- Word completion, both static (defined in a file) and dynamic (taken from current source)
- Configurable structure completion, for example:
  type for, when you press space (or any other way), it expands to:
  for | :=  to  do
- Code templates, if somehow the structure completion is not enough
- Integrated console
- Project management
