These changes were originally included in a version of SummationByParts that was bundled with Llama, as part of the 'symmetry' branch (commit 5ae381ab293d5d7d0c288caafcaab8f58be14c48). They effectively override the onesided_outer_boundaries and onesided_interpatch_boundaries parameters on patch boundaries that are recognised by the multipatch system as symmetry boundaries (e.g. reflection symmetry).
