calixto-buildroot / Steps to create tftp server

There are several TFTP server alternatives in Ubuntu. The tftpd or tftpd-hpa packages are recommended for installation.

To install the tftpd package on Ubuntu, run the following:

$ apt-get install xinetd tftpd tftp

configure the TFTP server, create /etc/xinetd.d/tftp with the following contents:

service tftp
{
protocol        = udp
port            = 69
socket_type     = dgram
wait            = yes
user            = nobody
server          = /usr/sbin/in.tftpd
server_args     = /tftpboot
disable         = no
}

The directory used for the TFTP server can be changed using the server_args variable. The example shown here assumes that TFTP server's base directory is tftpboot located at /tftpboot

Run the following to create the TFTP server's base directory and allow anyone to access it:

 $ mkdir /tftpboot
 $ chmod -R 777 /tftpboot
 $ chown -R nobody /tftpboot

Now restart the xinetd daemon to enable the server:

 $ service xinetd restart

Note : after setting up TFTP server for the first time,you may even have to restart the system .
