Losing stream failures

Issue #197 new
Anonymous created an issue

Periodically app loses the stream, when this happens variously - after very short period will restart the stream itself - stopping & starting the stream sometimes works - stopping & starting sometimes connects to stream but no sound - stopping & starting fails to reconnect - when no sound, changing station sometimes works - when no sound, sometimes no stations will play Eventually app has to be exited and restarted

Streams can be verified to be available (in other apps) when failures to connect or play happen

This seems to happen on almost every attempt to run Radio Tray though seems worst on one particular station; with previous version, occasional restarts of stream required but not as often as current breaks

Even with this irritating behaviour; Radio Tray is still a brilliant app!

Sorry rendering of that message did not work to well; lets try again

Periodically app loses the stream, when this happens variously

    • after very short period will restart the stream itself
    • stopping & starting the stream sometimes works
    • stopping & starting sometimes connects to stream but no sound
    • stopping & starting fails to reconnect
    • when no sound, changing station sometimes works
    • when no sound, sometimes no stations will play

Eventually app has to be exited and restarted

Nope. Issue is that a working station periodically fails and unable to restart it again; sometimes connects but no sound other times just refuses to connect even though the stream is accessible through other means or after a full restart of Radio Tray

However, noticed the reference to the logging feature in the issue you mentioned; will monitor that and upload any interesting output. Thanks

Bummer, do not seem to be able to upload logfile snippets. Is this not permitted?

Excerpt from logfile is available at

    http://pastebin.ca/2518438

Sequence it follows is something like

    1. streaming normally
    2. stream stops
    3. attempt to restart fails
    4. stop & start streams works
    5. stream plays as normal

Note that when the stream jams it is unable to find a decoder for ogg

Moved to an AAC stream (on the same station causing woes) and all appears to be well: no problems even in maintaining connectivity.

Evidently the problem stems for the ogg stream whether this a generic problem I don't know; indeed it may well be an issue with gstreamer & ogg

I also have this issue periodically. It seems like the buffer is empty, so the stream stops; then the buffer fills up, it plays a little chunk of sound and then the buffer empties again; then the buffer fills up, it plays a little chunk of sound, and on and on. It's very distracting/annoying when this happens. It would be good to detect this happening, and stop the stream altogether. While this is happening, I am unable to change stations; I have to kill radiotray's process in order to recover.
