Upgrade to Kubuntu 16.04 (from 15.10) Killed RadioTray

Issue #266 new
Anonymous created an issue

Not sure how to describe it but... I get a tiny Icon in the Panel with a mismatching background; and clicking the left or right mouse button results in no action.

radiotray: Installed: 0.7.3-5ubuntu1 Candidate: 0.7.3-5ubuntu1 Version table: *** 0.7.3-5ubuntu1 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/universe amd64 Packages 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/universe i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

And:

Kernel: 4.4.0-15-generic x86_64 (64 bit) Desktop: KDE Plasma 5.5.4 Distro: Ubuntu 16.04 xenial

I've tried purging and reinstalling -- nothing. Were there some dependencies removed in 16.04?

    If you run radiotray at a terminal is this what you see?

    ebruck@ebruck-VirtualBox-1604:/usr/bin$ ./radiotray
    /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/radiotray/XmlDataProvider.py:23: PyGIWarning: Gtk was imported without specifying a version first. Use gi.require_version('Gtk', '3.0') before import to ensure that the right version gets loaded.
      from gi.repository import Gtk
    Traceback (most recent call last):
      File "./radiotray", line 12, in <module>
        os.chdir(workdir)
    OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/usr/bin/src'

    I am able to get radiotray running by doing the following:

    sudo apt-get install python-xdg

    and editing /usr/bin/radiotray:

    ebruck@ebruck-VirtualBox-1604:/usr/bin$ cat radiotray
    #!/usr/bin/python

    import sys,os
    from os.path import dirname, join, pardir

    try:
        from radiotray import radiotray_runner
    except ImportError:
        #basedir = os.path.dirname(os.path.realpath(__file__))
        #workdir = join(basedir,'src')
        workdir = "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/radiotray/"
        sys.path.insert(0, workdir)
        os.chdir(workdir)
        import radiotray_runner

    radiotray_runner.main(sys.argv[1:])

    It appears the packaging is broken. Please file a bug in Launchpad.

    Hi Ed.

    I don't have the same OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/usr/bin/src' that you did.

    I tried editing /usr/bin/radiotray as suggested anyway but still have the empty system tray icon problem. I also already have python-xdg installed.

    This what I get when I launch from the console:

    swipe@Nuc:~$ radiotray
    /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/radiotray/XmlDataProvider.py:23: PyGIWarning: Gtk was imported without specifying a version first. Use gi.require_version('Gtk', '3.0') before import to ensure that the right version gets loaded.

    After upgrading to 16.04 I've had nothing but constant problems and bugs in kde and last night I was at the end of my tether, so I've ditched Kubuntu for Antergos running plasma 5.6.3. At least radiotray works properly now.
