Final choice on paper background or not

The paper background is feasible to keep, but we need to decide if that's a better option than a plain single background colour. Oliver's original look and feel impressions indicate the look with a single background colour. Switching is fairly easy.

I like the feel the paper gives it but have some concerns about the joins and whether there are places that it makes it difficult to read the text. A plain single background colour, a creamy/paper colour as shown in Oliver's tree navigation system designs, would work for me.
